Mosquito & Tick Control in Kenosha, WI

Locally Owned. Guaranteed Results.

The Same Ground, a Few Miles North

Kenosha County sits on the same water that Lake County does. The Des Plaines River rises here and crosses the state line south into the Illinois forest preserves we have treated since 2003. Between that corridor, the Pike River, and the lake-plain wetlands east of the interstate, Kenosha yards carry the habitat mosquitoes and blacklegged ticks need, often all on the same property.

We are a family-owned company that has served more than 1,000 families since 2003. Kenosha is not a new kind of ground for us. It is the same ground, a few miles north.

Every treatment carries our 10-day guarantee. If mosquitoes come back inside 10 days, so do we, at no charge. Our barrier treatment is derived from chrysanthemum extract and delivers roughly 90% mosquito knockdown.

Residential Mosquito & Tick Control in Kenosha

Our residential program treats the harborage zones where mosquitoes rest during the day: shaded ground cover, the undersides of leaves, dense shrub beds, fence lines and anywhere shade holds moisture. The barrier treatment kills on contact and leaves a residual that keeps working through the treatment cycle.

Tick control is a separate product applied in the same visit. Ticks do not rest where mosquitoes do, so treating for one does not treat for the other. Tick work targets the transition zones: leaf litter, the woodland edge, tall grass at the property line, and paddock margins on horse properties. Learn more about our tick control services.

Kenosha's Wooded Lots, River Corridors and Wet Prairie

Kenosha County is not uniform, and neither is the treatment. Three property types account for most of what we see:

  • River-adjacent yards. Properties near the Des Plaines or the Pike River hold standing water in the shoulder weeks long after the lawn looks dry. These are 10 to 14 day treatment cycles, not 21.
  • Yards backing to preserve or prairie. Richard Bong State Recreation Area runs to 4,515 acres of grassland, restored prairie and wetland, and Hawthorn Hollow's 90 acres on the Pike River add wooded groves and a ravine. Where a yard meets that kind of edge, the woodland edge habitat and leaf litter are where questing ticks wait, not the open lawn.
  • Open subdivision lots. Away from the water, cycles stretch to 10 to 21 days.

Tick Season in Kenosha Starts Earlier Than You Think

Blacklegged ticks become active whenever the temperature reaches about 40°F, which in southeastern Wisconsin can mean late winter, not late spring. Overwintered adults quest on the first warm days. The nymphal stage, which is the stage most often responsible for transmitting tick-borne illness to people, peaks later in spring and is small enough to be missed.

The CDC's guidance on tick-borne disease prevention is the plain version: reduce the habitat, check after exposure, and treat the edges where ticks actually wait.

Our tick program can start well before mosquito season opens, because it is a different product on a different schedule. Why 40°F weather means ticks are already active.

When Our Season Runs

Our mosquito season runs April 15 through October 15, in Kenosha County the same as in Illinois. Tick service runs longer, because it is a separate product on its own schedule.

We recommend booking before the season opens. The first breeding cycle is the cheapest one to interrupt, and a property treated from the start of the season never builds the population that a mid-summer start has to knock down.

Why Kenosha Homeowners Choose Skeeter Beater

We are family-owned, we have been doing this since 2003, and we will tell you what a treatment will not do. Barrier treatments reduce mosquito populations on your property; they do not create a sealed perimeter, and a neighboring property with standing water will keep producing them.

We also look out for pollinators. Our products are applied to resting surfaces rather than to flowering plants, and we avoid blooms. That matters on properties near protected prairie, and Kenosha County has some of the best remaining in the state. Tell us where your pollinator plantings are and we will work around them.

Fill out the form for a free quote. We quote by square footage, so we do not need to walk the property first. Text confirmation goes out before each visit and you do not need to be home, only to leave yard access. See all the areas we service.
